Review: Uniball Vision Needle with Waterproof Fade-proof Ink
Uniball Vision Needle pens are difficult to find in Singapore. So when I saw this set selling on Amazon Prime (Singapore), I knew I had to buy it.
I'm a big fan of Uniball pens, more specifically, the pens with waterproof inks. Over the years, I've reviewed many Uniball pens and the Vision Needle is among my favourites, together with Air, Gelstick and Impact.
If I'm not wrong, the Uniball Vision is also marketed as Uniball Eye in some countries. Within the Uniball Vision product lines, there are many other models.
I paid S$13.76 for this set with 8 colours. That's S$1.72 for each pen (~US$1.30 equivalent). That's a good price.
These pens are filled with Uni Super Ink, a pigment based ink that's archival, fade-proof and waterproof. Hence, these pens are great for use with water-based media such as watercolour, and even markers.
The pens look quite good too. I don't use disposable pens often but I do use them when I'm overseas where I don't bring my fountain pens along. With disposable pens, you don't need to refill them and you can bring several as backups so there's chance of running out of ink, and you don't have to deal with the inconvenience of refilling fountain pens outdoors. The downside is they are not as environmentally friendly compared to refillable pens.
They are very comfortable in hand.
The grip section looks nice too. The points are available in Fine (0.7) or Micro-Point (0.5).
Shown above is the Vision Needle compared with the Copic Multiliner SP. The metal needle point is definitely more durable compare to the felt tip. Felt tips can get worn out quite easily depending on the paper you use. With the metal point, it ensures the pen can be used up to the last micro-drop of ink.
Shown above is the Vision Needle with Derwent Graphik Line Painter. The ink in the Vision is smoother and less viscous compared to the paint-like ink in the Graphik. Even if you leave the Vision uncapped accidentally, the tip will not dry out.
The body is somewhat translucent so you can see how much ink is left inside.
Here are some drawings drawn with the various colours.
The inks are quite vibrant.
And they are most definitely waterproof.
The various colours allow for limitless creativity, mixing and matching. These are really fun pens to draw with. I can see myself buying them again when the ink runs out.
Highly recommended.

Search Amazon or Jetpans.
Also search their other name, Uniball Eye. There's the roller ball version as well if you don't mind.
