Review: Bigme B6 BW e-ink reader

Review unit provided by Bigme

Bigme has just released the Bigme B6 BW e-reader in early 2026, months after the Bigme B6 colour e-reader. This is a compact 6-inch e-ink tablet made specifically for reading, but has versatility too as it has Google Play Store.

Price of the tablet is USD 179 at the time of review. This is also the current price of the model with colour as well.

Things included

My review unit only came with the tablet. There's no cable, no power adapter and no SIM ejector.

The product page mentions a cover will be included, and colour options are blue, gray, pink, purple and green.

Design

Design of the Bigme B6 is clean and simple. It's just slightly larger than my phone with a 6.2-inch display. Due to the difference with aspect ratio, the Bigme 6-inch display is bigger.

And this is how the Bigme B6 compares to the Bigme B7 Pro. The small tablet is made for reading text and not comics or PDFs, so the small size is actually sufficiently big.

This is text quality with default e-ink mode. Edges of text can look rough.

This is text quality with Magazine mode and the text looks sharper. There is increased latency for page flips with Magazine mode but it's not really an issue since you won't be reading that fast to flip pages that often.

Text in comics and PDFs will look too small. The speech bubble is even smaller than my pinkie fingernail.

I prefer the BW model over colour e-ink because I feel colour is not necessary, especially when reading text. BW also has a lighter e-ink canvas so text will have better contrast and look better. Text is legible and easy to read even without front light enabled.

Display is almost laminated. Viewing angle is terrific. Tablet is quite thin and easy to bring around.

Display has a matte surface and the anti-glare works well.

The red power button does not have a fingerprint scanner. Having to type in password each time to unlock the tablet is inconvenient.

The USB-C port only has USB 2 transfer speed. Speaker sounds hollow. The microSD card slot beside the USB-C port is useful as internal storage is just 64GB.

Back of the tablet is made with plastic. Overall build quality of the tablet is good enough for a budget tablet.

There are 36 levels of adjustment for the cold and warm light. Lighting looks quite even to me.

This is how warm light looks.

There is some light bleed at the edges of the body and frame.

There are five soft keys with shortcuts for

  • Library - This will show you the ebooks you have from internal storage
  • AI - You can choose between BigmeGPT or DeepSeek. These are not connected to the internet so they aren't that useful.
  • Storage - This is the file manager
  • Homescreen
  • Settings

Performance

The tablet only has 4GB RAM and just enough to hold some apps in memory. The tablet does not use that much resource so overall performance is smooth and responsive enough, limited only by the e-ink technology.

OS and software

The tablet runs on Android 14. Bigme OS is quite simple without many features and that's alright.

Having Google Play Store is definitely a huge selling point as this allows you to install whatever apps you want. You can also install ebook apps to get access to ebooks from other platforms. I tested Amazon Kindle and Libby and both work well.

Battery life

Battery capacity is 2100 mAh and is considered small. Battery life is around 10-12 hours without the front light and with internet connected.

Conclusion

The Bigme B6 BW is made specifically for reading and it does its job well. Text looks good so the reading experience is good. Having Google Play Store is a plus.

I wish the battery life can be longer but it's not a deal breaker.
