Publisher North Light Books have been putting many mixed media art books recently. The two that I reviewed earlier were Fast & Fun Watercolor and Paint, Play, Explore.

Awakening Your Creative Soul is a book on mixed media art. It has 52 art projects, one for each week in the year.

The projects are very tactile and use a wide variety of materials. One project involves painting a self portraits and you have to create a heart with paper clay. Many involves cutting paper, using stencils, gluing stuff to the canvas, spray, splatter, pour, nail, and many other techniques. There's one project that requires you to plant some seeds and grow some plants.

This is unlike any other artbooks I've seen. There's a lot of things you can do, techniques you can experiment with. This is a great book for those who want enjoy the process of making art.

The book is available as a 176-page paperback as well as ebook format.
