Just like the R20+5 Rockman art book I reviewed recently, Capcom also updated (Street Fighter Art Works) for the 25th anniversary.
The new book is still paperback. But its thicker at 448 pages compared to the earlier one of 320 pages. The updated book has 128 pages more illustrations!
This is an incredible collection of Street Fighter character art. The amount of work featured is amazing.
I like the illustrations for their dynamism. It is a fighting game after all.
The illustrations are divided into chapters by artists, namely:
- あきまん (Akiman) | blog
(Kinu Nishimura)
(Daigo Ikeno)
(Daichan)
(Edayan)
(Shinkiro)
(Polygon Pictures)
There's a new additional chapter featuring art from Polygon Pictures. They are the ones who created the black ink splashy art for Super Street Fighter IV. Some of the works are featured in the art book Street Fighter IV & Super Street Fighter IV: Official Complete Works except they are printed smaller here.
There are also many other new artists included and their work are featured in the latter half of the book.
Update: Udon has released SF25, the English edition. Udon has an English translated edition for the earlier art book. They have also scheduled to released this book in English as SF25: The Art of Street Fighter in 2013 but there's no specific date. You can either wait for that or get this Japanese edition. There's not much text to read anyway.
