Book Reivew: The Art of Pascal Campion
Pascal Campion is a French-American illustrator and animator known for his beautiful feel-good illustrations that he creates almost daily.
The Art of Pascal Campion is an artbook where Pascal talks about his daily sketches and inspiration. There are also some tutorials that shows how he creates his art. This book is published by 3dtotal Publishing and is part of the 3dtotal Illustrator series.
The thing about Pascal Campion is, he has create so many artworks over the years but he doesn't release yearly artbooks. So this book is one of artbooks that feature selected works, just like his earlier artbooks 3000 Moments: A Collection of Sketches by Pascal Campion, Sunny Side and the Oogely Boogeley series.
This 152-page hardcover focuses more on Pascal's sequential art or comics. About 2/3 of the book is on that. And from the text you'll find out he actually likes to draw these comics, and his thoughts on storytelling.
The artworks of course are beautiful. Each illustration is well composed and the mood is captured so well. You can tell these artworks were drawn quickly but they never feel unfinished because Pascal is great at simplification -- knowing which details to add and not add.
This is a wonderful artbook. Highly recommended.
You can see more of Pascal Campion's art on his Instagram page and his blog.
