Book Preview: Sunny Side by Pascal Campion
I really love the art of Pascal Campion because it's always a delight to see the warmth he puts into his drawings. The warmth that comes from the colours, lighting and characters. He captures all of them perfectly with a beautiful style, whether it is a group of cute animals going hunting together, monkeys monkeying around or family moments.
Sunny Side is a 144-page hardcover. It's actually not his first art book. Previously, he has been publishing some his work in the Oogely Boogeley series that he sells at comic con. Those are limited editions and therefore always sold out.
It's great to see a thicker book this time, published by CFSL Ink.
Sunny Side collects a selection of the beautiful art that Pascal Campion post regularly on his blog which dates back to 2006. So a lot is not included, and I hope there will be future volumes. Of those that are included, they are gorgeous of course.
Beside the illustrations, there is also an interview. For those who wonder how he creates his art, there are step by step screenshots with accompanying commentary. The book is written in French and English.
Highly recommended.
The book will be available from 21 June 2012 at Amazon (US | CA | UK | DE | FR | IT | ES | JP)
