Book Review: Hoooook: The Art of Woojin

Hoooook: The Art of Woojin - 01

WooJin Oh, aka Hoooook (that's five o), is an illustrator and painter from South Korea. On his Facebook page, I can see that he has worked with several video game studios before.

Well, this 168-page hardcover is actually an artbook with personal paintings and doesn't have any video game art. There are many beautiful paintings, mostly portraits, included. His style can be characterised by the rough textured brush strokes and interesting use of colour palette. The roughness of the paint strokes actually makes it feel like the paintings are unfinished which they are not of course. I like how textured and rough the strokes are but yet the subjects are clearly defined.

The book is priced at US $45 and is available at
