Review: Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14

Review unit on loan from Wacom Singapore

The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 was released in October 2025, months after the Wacom MovinkPad 11 was released in July. Back when I tested and reviewed the smaller tablet, I wished for a larger and better tablet and Wacom actually delivered. The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 is better than the MovinkPad 11 in many ways, and this tablet also happens to be one of the best tablets for digital artists this year.

The price of the tablet with pen included is USD 899 (SGD 1299) which is actually quite reasonable considering the specifications you get.

The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 Cover (ACK45633Z) is priced at USD 59.95 (SGD 79). Wacom claims it's "premium protection with pen holder" but it only protects the front of the tablet. This accessory is clearly overpriced so just get a third party case instead, or just get a sleeve, such as those made for 14-inch laptops. The cover supports auto wake and sleep, and is made of cloth so it will get dirty easily.

Design

The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 looks good although the design is considered quite generic like most tablets nowadays. The bezels are thin, corners are rounded for the body and display.

There are no cameras, but there is a light sensor for auto-brightness which works quite well.

What is interesting is Wacom has included a blank wallpaper, and other wallpaper options are single colour options. This is one way to stand out among the competition and I guess it does work. There's something about about a blank canvas that feels inviting.

The tablet is quite thin at 5.9mm, although not as thin as the Samsung Tab S11 Ultra and M5 iPad Pro which are both 5.1mm.

Weight of 699g is considered lightweight for a 14-inch tablet. I was able to stand and sketch with the tablet and standing was more tiring than holding the tablet. It's easier to hold the tablet with the hand underneath while standing and sketching. Due to the size of the tablet, it would be unwieldy to handle the tablet from one side as the centre of gravity is too far away from the hand.

The microSD card slot has a cover instead of a SIM tray. Inserting and removing the microSD card will require using the SD tool provided, or just use the pen tip and pray that the pen tip does not break off. The power button does not have a fingerprint scanner, so this tablet does not have any biometric unlock which is quite inconvenient.

The body is made with magnesium which is supposed to be lighter and more durable than aluminium. The matte textured surface actually feels like plastic but it's metal and it's tough.

The four small rubber feet on the back have good grip on the table.

I recommend using a tablet stand for drawing since it's more ergonomic, and the stand I recommend is the Parblo PR100. The official Wacom Foldable Stand for Movink is USD 79.95 (SGD 119).

Audio from the two speakers is serviceable. Bass is non-existent but at least the audio does not sound hollow. Maximum volume is not as loud compared to other tablets, but loud enough.

Display

The 14-inch OLED display is big, bright, vibrant and sharp. Resolution is 2880 x 1800 (242 PPI), aspect ratio is 16:10. Refresh rate is 120Hz, with variable refresh rate either 60Hz or 120Hz. Typical brightness is 400 nits with maximum brightness up to 900 nits.

Advertised colour support is 100% sRGB, 100% DCI-P3 and contrast ratio is 100,000:1. Visual quality of the OLED display is stunning.

Viewing angles are good. There's no colour shift with extra viewing angles but there's drop in brightness possibly due to the matte surface.

One advantage of having a big display is apps with many UI elements will work well. I'm talking about apps such as Clip Studio Paint, Krita, Medibang Paint.

The matte glass surface provides effective anti-glare, but diffused reflections are slightly brighter when compared to the nano glasss of the Apple M4/M5 iPad Pro (above left). The matte glass is resistant to fingerprints and is easy to clean.

The display is laminated so there's almost no gap between the line and the pen tip.

One thing you have to know about OLED is there's pulse wave modulation (PWM). People with sensitive eyes may be affected by PWM. If you're unsure whether you'll be affected by PWM, I recommend you go see the tablets in person in a shop. PWM is the reason why sometimes you see flickering lights on displays in some Youtube videos.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8s gen 3 processor used is a mid-high tier chipset from 2024. Overall performance is fast and smooth. Everything feels responsive and there's the 120Hz to thank too.

12GB of RAM is sufficient for multi-tasking or creating artworks with many layers.

OS and software

The tablet comes with Android 15 and it's pretty much stock Android without many features.

I do not see any bloatware during initial setup. The pre-installed apps are:

  • Wacom Tips: User guide for the tablet
  • Wacom Canvas: A simple drawing apps with many limitations
  • Wacom Shelf: File manager for the artworks created with Wacom Canvas
  • Clip Studio Paint Debut: A 12-month license is included

The default file manager is Google Files which is too basic. I use Solid Explorer instead. There's no direct integration with Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive but files or artworks can be exported directly to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive from the apps.

There are many capable drawing apps available from the Google Play Store, such as

  • Artflow
  • Clip Studio Paint
  • Concepts
  • HiPaint
  • IBisPaint X
  • Infinite Painter
  • Krita
  • Medibang Paint
  • Sketchbook
  • Tayasui Sketches

There were several apps that I could not install for some reason, namely Shopee SG, Lazada SG, Amazon, XE currency converter.

I could not sign into the Facebook app, and hence I could not sign in to other apps that use Facebook authentication, e.g. Genshin Impact. I did not test gaming on this tablet.

For some reason the dock does not show recent apps.

Split screen works well on such a big display.

Pen

The included pen is the Wacom Pro Pen 3 which supports tilt, 8K levels of pressure sensitivity and palm rejection. The pen is not powered by battery so there's no need for charging and Bluetooth pairing. This pen actually uses a newer version of Wacom EMR, not the same version from the S Pens from Samsung Galaxy tablets.

There's an option in Settings to enable support for older Wacom EMR pens. When I tested other Wacom EMR pens, sometimes the click would not register, or the click and drag would lose the click halfway. I did not experience this issue with the Wacom MovinkPad 11.

The pen comes with three side buttons and whether they are customisable will depend on the apps you use. Note the extended tip and tapered front of the pen that makes it easy to tilt the pen for tilt effect.

If you find the pen too thin, you can buy the option Wacom Flare Grips. The three buttons can be removed to install the Wacom grip.

The back of the pen can be turned and removed to reveal a storage space for three replacement pen tips. One of the pen tips has a felt tip which provides more texture when drawing. Samsung S Pen nibs are shorter so those cannot be used with the Wacom pen.

Line tests

Line tests below are created in Medibang Paint.

1. The pen is sensitive but how the pen is held actually affects the pressure sensitivity of the pen. When holding the pen vertically, the thin lines (black) I was drawing are thicker than expected. When the pen was held at a lower angle, I was able to create thin lines (red) more easily. Diagonal line wobble is not noticeable.

2. Lines are able to taper smoothly and sharply.

3. Line transition from thin to thick and back is smooth. Thin lines can be drawn after drawing thick lines.

4. Consistent line width can be created while maintaining consistent pressure .

5. No issues with drawing dots.

6. No issues with cursor misalignment. The cursor is always directly beneath the pen tip, more specifically at the contact point.

Tilt sensitivity works well.

The Wacom Pro Pen 3 has outstanding pen performance which is quite similar to pen displays or pen tablets. The pen performance is consistent and predictable. The pen performance you see here goes into the top three, together with Apple and Samsung (uses Wacom EMR too). I seem to be able to get finer control over the lines so I'll probably rank the Wacom pen above Apple and Samsung.

Drawing experience

The pen is accurate and sensitive, palm rejection works well, so the drawing experience is wonderful.

Main thing that affects drawing experience is the matte glass is quite smooth and will take some time to get used to. It's the same texture you get with most pen tablets and pen displays. The surface is noticeably smoother compared to matte screen protectors.

The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 works great as a mobile digital sketchpad. It's big but light enough to carry around easily. The sketch above was drawn while holding the tablet and standing.

The challenging part about creating this sketch was getting used to how smooth the display is. You can switch to the felt nib to get more texture when drawing.

For drawing purposes, you may want to change the colour mode in Settings from Standard to Color profile. Doing so will actually make colours appear less saturated in drawing apps, but will match the colours better on other displays. For the sketch above, the red roof was really vibrant but the exported artwork has more muted colours. If you want other people to see the same colours as you when you share your art on social media, choose Color profile mode.

Standard shows more vibrant colours in drawing apps, but artworks will appear desaturated when viewed from other apps or web browser.

Color profile shows consistent colours across different apps and web browser.

I have created a timelapse video for the sketch above and transferring the 5.4GB video out has to be done through Wifi because the USB C port only has USB 2 transfer speed.

The pen is great for taking notes and handwriting too.

There is some latency but it's not really an issue with drawing.

Some huge textured brushes in CSP can still struggle. Shown above is the Wet Wash brush that has noticeable lag when drawing at large brush sizes. I've the same experience with the Apple M5 iPad Pro so it's probably an issue with CSP's brush optimisation.

Instant Pen Display Mode

Instant Pen Display Mode is a feature that allows you to use the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 as a pen display with your computer, so that you can use the software from your computer.

This feature is still in beta so there may be some bugs and performance isn't optimal. This feature is a software feature and not hardware so there's added latency, and there are just too many steps to get this feature to work. This is not a key feature to me at its current usability.

At the time of review, the follow OS are supported

  • Wacom MovinkPad Pro: Android 15
  • Windows 11 (Arm Windows not supported, Windows 10 not supported)
  • macOS 14, 15( macOS 26 not supported currently, intel mac not supported)

Wacom has listed the steps required to get this feature to work and there many steps. Let me summarise the steps:

  1. Download the Wacom driver on your computer so that you can get access to Wacom Center.
  2. Sign in to your Wacom account from the Wacom Center driver. Under the Software Offers tab, you should see the "Wacom MovinkPad Instant Pen Display" driver that you can download.
  3. Install the file you've just downloaded from the previous step.
  4. On the tablet, go into Settings->Wacom Lab. Enable "Instant Pen Display Mode".
  5. On the tablet, go into Settings->About Tablet, scroll down to Build number and tap on it 7 time to enable Developer mode
  6. On the tablet, go into Settings->System->Developer options, enable USB debugging
  7. Make sure your computer and tablet are on the Wifi network, then connect the two devices with a USB cable
  8. On the computer, open "Wacom MovinkPad Instant Pen Display" driver, and the computer should detect the tablet, click Update
  9. From the driver, after updating, click Connect. The tablet may show a pop up with a 6-digit code. If the code does not show, swipe down from the control panel and long press Instant Pen Display Mode.
  10. Input the 6-digit code into the computer

After going through all those steps, hopefully the computer can now detect the tablet as an external monitor.

It is quite tedious to go through all the steps.

Few things to note. This connection is a software connection through the same Wifi network used by both devices. Connecting a cable between the two devices will not improve latency, unfortunately.

You can also achieve the same result, with fewer steps, by installing SuperDisplay to use the tablet as a pen display. This works only with Windows and not MacOS though.

The experience of using the tablet as a pen display will depend on how strong your Wifi network is, because that will affect latency. During my test, I was able to get pressure and tilt to work but the extra latency for drawing is frustrating.

It would be great if Wacom can actually make this feature a hardware feature instead. Connect a cable, tell the tablet to go into pen display mode. That's how it should be done, just like with the XPPen Magic Drawing Pad, and there's no latency.

Battery life

Battery life is at least 9 hours, usually more. Wacom claims 10.5 hours.

It takes around 2 hours to charge 70%.

Conclusion

The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 is definitely one of the best tablets for digital artists in 2025. The tablet is well made and has good specifications. Main downsides would be the lack of biometric unlock, speakers sound flat and OS doesn't have many features.

The 14-inch display is big, bright, vibrant and sharp. The matte glass display has effective anti-glare. The matte surface is a bit too smooth so it doesn't really have the tactile feedback most artist appreciate.

The pen is accurate and sensitive, performance is consistent and predictable, so drawing experience is good.

The USD 899 pricing is very competitive. Price is much lower than the USD 1299 Apple M5 iPad Pro (13-inch) and Samsung Tab S11 Ultra Wifi (dropped from SGD 1698 to SGD 1302 on Shopee SG on 11.11). The price will be even be more attractive with further discounts.

The Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 is something I can recommend easily to anyone looking for a professional portable drawing tablet. I believe this is a better deal than the 13.3-inch Wacom Movink OLED selling at USD 749 (SGD 1099)
