高畠聡 (Takabatake Satoshi) is a veteran precision background artist who has worked on Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira and other big animated films and series. This guy's work is awe-inspiring. This guy is the definition of discipline and craftsmanshop.

This 256-page paperback artbook collects the amazingly detailed background art that he created over the years. The paper used is soft non-gloss, matte. The titles he has worked on are:

The artworks featured are technical line art drawings of backgrounds. I see some 3D created scenes but most pieces seem to be hand drawn. Even the 3D models are incredibly detailed. It must have taken an incredible amount of time to create each illustration you see in this book, and there are so many artworks. Almost all the artworks are line art with only a handful of them coloured.

This guy's knowledge of perspective must be off the charts. There's much to learn here, such as how to draw details and how to place the camera for storytelling.
