Book Review: Mynameis?: Urban Influenced Visual Dynamics Issue 09

Mynameis?: Urban Influenced Visual Dynamics Issue 09

Mynameis? is a publication from the creators of Graphotism, a website that features urban art. Each issue features selected artists and their work.

There are 164 pages in issue 9 and different categories you can see are street art, fine art, graphic design, photography, fashion, sculpture, interiors and product design.

The featured artists are Sylvia Ji, Yoko D'Holbachie, Jim Mahfood, Adam Wallacavage, Damon Soule and Kev Grey.

The main deal of this book is on illustration art. There's a huge collection of weird out-of-the-world candy-coated characters created by Yoko D'Holbachie. Sylvia Ji's illustrations of women are dreamy and evocative. The craftsmanship is fine and reminds me of fashion illustrations, but with a darker theme. And then there's Jim Mahfood who known for mixing comic-book art, street art and pop culture.

There are only 6 artists featured so each are given a significant writeup with many pages of artwork. The styles featured are unique and quality of work is really high.

Overall, it's an inspiring visual reference. Earlier issues are, unfortunately, out of stock and hard to find.
