Jorge Arranz is an illustrator from Spain. He has a nice simple cartoon style that he uses for illustrations and sketches. He really has a way with simplifying the things he draws.
GALICIA EN TREN is a travelogue sketchbook on Galicia, an autonomous community from Northwest Spain. The sketchbook's a squarish sized hardcover with 44 pages. Text is in Spanish but that's not a problem because there's not much text to read anyway.
The pages are filled with wonderful artworks by Jorge Arranz. I really love the simple style that he uses, and admire the way he distills down each scene to the essence. The sketches look lively and the colours are beautiful. Some of the sketches are coloured with watercolour while others, I think, are digitally coloured.
I enjoy looking at the different areas of Galicia that are captured in the drawings, such as the port, town, alleys, highway, cafes and iconic buildings. Even for architecture with supposedly detailed carvings are treated with such simplicity. This book makes for a great reference if you want to simplify your drawings, and that's actually the main reason why I bought this book.
