You definitely need some basic skills at drawing to be able to get the best out of this book.
The Complete Drawing Course does well to introduce different drawing materials, techniques and has step-by-step demonstrations. It's packed with lots of tips, artworks from other artists as examples and insightful writeup. I love the variety of work that's included. It's a nice showcase of creativity and provides a good idea how fun art can be. There are 288-page in this spiral bound book and each page is packed with information.
The only downside is I felt that for a beginner with no experience, it can be challenging to follow some of the lessons. I mean, you must at least learn to draw basic subjects or know the basic drawing fundamentals before you attempt more complicated scenes, such as a harbour scene with buildings moving back in perspective and boats in the water. Having said that, this book would be a fantastic compliment to how-to-draw books with its many techniques you can explore.
For beginners, I would recommend Keys to Drawing first.
