About the author:
Paul Levitz is a comic-book fan who has worked as editor/publisher of The Comic Reader, editor of the Batman titles and others, writer of over 300 stories—including an acclaimed run on Legion of Super-Heroes—and a DC Comics executive, finishing his 38-year stint with the company as President and Publisher. He returned to writing in 2010 with a new series of Legion stories and other projects.

That's how I feel about modern anime/manga. At least back in the 30s and 40s, entertainment like comics were still pretty new and nearly any idea was cool at the time.
You weren't meant to take

You weren't meant to take them too seriously. Rather than be all bloody and violent and grim and gritty, the Silver Age managed to have fun. Today's superhero-comic market is all about catering to teenagers above with as much blood, sex and violence as possible.
