Affinity is now free
Canva, the company that bought Serif, has made the Affinity suite of graphic design apps free. You can now download Affinity for free, on Mac and Windows.
This is an incredible move that competes with Adobe and is going to cause them pain as they start to phase out Adobe users. I mean who's starting out in graphic design will go with Adobe when they can go with Affinity? Expect Adobe users will get fewer each year.

For already affinity…
For already affinity customers this is bad news.
After Canva purchased the company we all suspected a future move into subscription based model.
A freemium model (basic features are free, premium features by paid subscription)
Before that you could own the software. A lifetime licence. It was yours. No monthly payments. No subscriptions.
Same move as Adobe years ago.
Bad news.
I was a long time user of…
I was a long time user of Affinity Photo mainly for 3D renderings modifications using Open EXR 32 bit (Photoshop suck in that regard) but since the release of GIMP 3 and the support to non destructive layers and EXR 32 bit I switched to it completely. Same thing with Krita for when I have to draw/paint digitally (I'm a traditionalist).
Open source is the way. Nowadays you can't trust companies, they're too greedy. I could name countless of them that switched to subscriptions only models or other bad practices where you can't even open your projects if you stop paying.
