Review: Orico Solid State Flash Drive (USB3.1 gen 1) UFSD

Review sample from Orico

This Orico Solid State Flash Drive is also known as UFSD flash drive or model USSD-C. Transfer speed is USB 3.2 gen 1 with advertised 520MB/s read and 479MB/s write speeds. In real world, the speed is lower due to heat throttling.

Prices (USD) on Amazon are as follows:

  • 64GB - $23 to 25
  • 128GB - #32 to 35
  • 256GB - $44 to $49
  • 512GB - $73 to $83

The price varies depending on whether the connector is USB-A or USB-C. Note that there's a USB 3.0 version of this drive which has much slower transfer speeds.

Prices (SGD) on Shopee SG and Lazada SG as follows:

  • 64GB - $60
  • 128GB - $97
  • 256GB - $183
  • 512GB - $295

The direct competitor is the Sandisk Extreme PRO Solid State Flash Drive which is slightly more expensive but has better transfer speeds.

Build quality for this Orico thumb drive is extremely solid as it's almost all metal. Downside is it can get so hot it can burn fingers so be careful. And other downside is when it gets hot which it will, speed throttles.

Below are the transfer speed on Windows and Mac.

I personally recommend spending a bit more to buy the Sandisk instead due to higher transfer speed but the Sandisk is currently only available with USB-A connector.

If you don't having the cable, I recommend the Samsung T7 instead.
