Review: XPPen ACS15 Ergo Stand for pen displays
Review unit provided by XPPen
The XPPen ACS15 is a ergonomic stand designed for use with pen displays. Price of the stand is USD 259 which may or may not include free shipping depending on your location.
At the time of review, the stand is not widely available for sale yet, but availability should improve from June 2025 onwards.
Possible adjustments for the stand are:
- 14 angles from 20 to 90 degree (vertical)
- Height adjustment from 73mm (lowest) to 313mm (highest)
- 90 degree rotation for landscape and portrait orientation
The main selling point here is this ergo stand offers more adjustment compared to the included stand provided by pen displays.
I have not tested an ergonomic arm with my pen displays, so I can't tell you the differences between an ergo arm vs ergo stand other than say the ergo arm does not take up table space.
Things included
- Base
- Stand
- 5x big screws for the base
- 4 smaller screws for the VESA place
- Allen key screw driver
- User manual
I highly recommend reading the instruction manual before installation.
Installation
For this review, I've tested the stand with the XPPen Artist Pro 22 (gen 2) pen display which comes with an attached stand that has to be removed first.
The recommendation installation sequence is as follows:
- Place the display face down. And I have micro fiber cleaning cloth beneath to protect the display
- Check the direction of the VESA mount on the stand. Make sure the arrow point upwards
- Attach the stand to the display using the VESA mount
- Attach the base to the stand
When I installed the VESA plate to the pen display, the VESA plate could not be screwed all the way in because the screw is too long. As I screwed too hard, one of the screw broke off and got stuck inside the pen display.
To avoid this problem, you should have a spacer between the VESA plate and the pen display. For me, I placed a thin cardboard between and finally managed to attach the VESA plate firmly.
Overall installation is straightforward except you have to know the issue with the screws as mentioned above.
The stand can with used with pen displays from 17 to 32-inches, with weight support up to 10kg. VESA mount are for 75mm x 75mm and 100mm x 100mm.
The stand weighs 4.6kg and that is heavy. The weight together with the rubber feet beneath provides good grip on the tablet, so the stand is very stable.
Both the base and stand are made with full metal so the build quality is solid. All edges are beveled so there are no sharp edges. All the surfaces are finished with a matte texture.
Design
The latch can be pulled towards you to adjust the height of the stand, and the angle of the display, and you can do the adjustment from seating position.
I'm not sure what type of hydraulic system is used for the stand, but it looks like a gas spring system to me.
If you can adjust the angle of the stand easily, then there's no need to adjust the hydraulic tension. Reason is because the stand actually will lock in at certain angles and does not rely on the hydraulic tension to lock the angle.
This is the lowest angle with the stand almost horizontal. With the display at an angle, this takes up 50cm (around 20 inches) from front to back of the stand.
Note that there's rubber padding on top of the stand near the front, so the display can rest on that rubber padding if needed.
At the highest angle, the display can be perfectly vertical.
The display can be rotated 90 degrees, clockwise or anti-clockwise, to switch from landscape to portrait orientation.
If you're using a big pen display, make sure to angle the display first before rotation to avoid hitting the corner of the display against the table.
Once the display and stand rest into the locked angle, there is no movement at all when drawing, so you get to draw on a totally stationary surface.
In standing position, the stand takes up 36cm (around 14-inches) from front to back. Make sure your table is big enough for the stand. In the empty space of the base is where you can put your pens and stuff.
Conclusion
The XPPen ACS15 is a good ergonomic stand for digital artists who need more adjustment for their pen displays. The stand looks good and works well, and is very stable for drawing.
Just bear in mind the issue with the VESA plate and screws that may be too long.
