Review: Anker Nano 45W Smart Charger and MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro (with fan)

Anker has just released a 45W USB-C charger and 10,000 mAh power banks with smart features. The products are called Anker Nano Charger (45W, Smart Display) (A121D) and Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro (A110R).

Anker Nano Charger (45W, Smart Display) (A121D)

This little charger is compact and weighs only 90g. It comes with one USB-C port and a touch area to change what the smart display shows.

Here in Singapore, the plug is the 3-pin version and is not foldable. In the US, the 2-flat pin version is foldable.

These are the charging specs:

• Input: 100–240V~ 50/60Hz 1.5A Max
• Output: 5.0V⎓3.0A / 9.0V⎓3.0A / 15.0V⎓3.0A / 20.0V⎓2.25A (45.0W Max)

This can charge an iPhone 17 Pro to 50% in 20 minutes. There's enough charging speed to charge some laptops too. How fast the charging speed is will vary depending on how depleted the battery is on your device.

Main feature that differentiates this charger from other brands is the smart display that can show different types of information:

• Animated face when idle
• Charging speed and battery % of compatible iPhones/iPads
• Temperature
• Care mode to help reduce battery aging

This charger can recognise iPhone 17 / 16 / 15 series (excluding iPhone 17e), 11" iPad Pro (2024 / 2023 / 2021 / 2020), 12.9" iPad Pro (2022 / 2021 / 2020), and 13" iPad Pro (2024). iPhone 18 series recognition will be available through an OTA update.

The display is a nice feature to have but not a must-have. Whether to get this will depend on how fancy you want your charger to be. I must say it is pretty cool to be able to see the battery % of the iPhone on the charger's display, but you can also see that on your iPhone anyway.

Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro

This is a 10,000 mAh power bank that supports MagSafe and Qi2.2 25W charging, has a kickstand and a fan. Cable charging speed is 45W.

The size is about the same as other 10,000 mAh power banks that I have. Weight of 220g is still quite manageable, not too heavy.

10,000 mAh can my phone twice, and my 13-inch M4 iPad Pro up to 70%. So that's a decent amount of extra battery life to have for a day.

Anker says the Nano 45W charger can charge iPhone 17 Pro to 50% in 20 minutes. And the company said the Qi2.2 25W can charge the iPhone 17 Pro to 50% in 25 mins. 45W vs 25W with a difference of 5 minutes to charge 50%? Either the cable charging is slower than usual, or the wireless charging is faster than usual.

45W cable charging can get you 80% in 52 minutes.

Anyway, regardless of charging speed test results advertised by the company, the charging speed is fast. The charger and power bank work best with devices that support fast charging.

One thing I like about this charger is the USB-C port is by the side, and you can prop up the phone higher when charging the power bank while also charging the phone.

There is a fan and the cooling will start automatically. I can definitely feel the wind and heat from the fan so heat dissipation does work.

I've had many power banks and overheating has never been a problem so I'm not sure how essential having a fan is for a power bank. And this power bank is not gonna be charging multiple devices at the same time, so chances of overheating are going to be much lower.

The power bank can also detect certain phones and apply smart charging to maintain battery health.

II like this power bank because the charging speed is fast. I actually prefer to use cable charging because it's much faster than the 25W wireless charging. The included USB‑C charging cable is quite short, unfortunately, but expected for a portable power bank.

The smart display by the side is nice to have. It can show you the charging speed, and even battery health.

Being able to see the battery health of the power bank is useful because this lets you know when you should replace it in the future.
