Connection

There are drivers for Mac, Windows and Android. Driver installation is needed to access all the features. I did not test the driver with Android though, but Mac and Windows driver work well.

The display supports USB-C or HDMI video connection. The display has to be connected to a power source regardless of the video connection used, and the display can be powered by a power bank too.

If you use HDMI connection, display also needs a USB connection to the computer.

Design

The display is housed inside a rugged looking carrying case which also doubles as the stand for the display.

To open the case, you have to rotate the rectangular magnetic mount that also works as a latch for the case.

Then lift the cover and the folded display can be taken out.

The size of the display when folded is about the size of a thick 16-inch laptop.

To deploy the stand, have the cover upright, and prop it up with a foldout support. The base takes up a big space on the table.

To mount the display, attach it to the magnetic latch on the stand.

The latch will go into the display's mount, and magnet is strong, and attachment is secure.

Maximum height is 80cm to the top of the stacked layout.

Display is quite flat when unfolded. The three displays have protective stickers with setup instructions on them, which are also available from the user guide.

This is how the stand looks from the back. It is possible to flip the displays 180 degrees to face the opposite side.

One side of the stand will have a higher elevation. So you can choose the elevation you prefer for the size of the laptop that you have. Shown in the photo about is the display in front of a 15-inch laptop and there's a gap between the bottom of the display and the top of the laptop's display.

When the display is flipped to the other side of the stand, the elevation is lower, and a tall laptop display may cover the bottom of the display.

It's possible to stack the displays from top down too. Display can be rotated easily. Tilt can be adjusted slightly using the handle of the case/stand.

The photo above is showing a single desktop with a single Windows taskbar. When you maximise a window, the window will fill the three displays. This single desktop is extended from the laptop, and you can drag a windows across all four displays.

Displaying a single webpage with this stacked single desktop allows you to see a lot of content. This could be good for computer programmers. The bezels are thick though so they form a visible gap between the displays. The gap is not an issue if you're using three separate desktops but as a single desktop the gap is considered big.

It is possible to have three separate desktops too, with three taskbars. The advantage here is it's easily to fill each display with a window using keyboard shortcuts, e.g. Winkey + Arrow.

It is possible to show three windows with a single desktop too but you'll have to resize the windows manually.

To switch between single and three desktops, you hold the OSD button up for 3s. To power down the bottom display, hold the OSD button down for 3s.

For Mac users, you can install the Rectangle app to have keyboard shortcuts for moving Windows. Rectangle is a must-have app.

The display has no auto rotation feature. When you use three desktops, you have to go into OS settings to rotate three displays.

Colours

Each display has 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. When adjusting display settings with the OSD, all displays will be adjusted at the same time.

With a Spyder X2 colour calibrator, I measured 80% sRGB, 62% NTSC, 65% AdobeRGB, 65% P3 and maximum brightness of 215 nits.

80% sRGB colour accuracy isn't that good but still usable, and in case this would be usable for web browsing and office type work, which is actually what this display is designed for. The colour accuracy is definitely not good enough for graphic design, photo and video editing where colour accuracy is important.

Even after colour calibration, the colours still look off to me, but colours do not look strange. You'll probably need a better display by the side to see the difference in quality.

Viewing angle is alright. There's minimal colour shift when viewed from the side. There's some IPS glow but not really an issue.

Maximum brightness of 215 nits is sufficient unless your room is very bright or the display is facing strong light source, eg. a big window. The display surface is matte and anti-glare works effectively. This is not a touchscreen.

Problem with displays having different brightness or colours
The three displays should have rather similar brightness to the eye. If one display looks dark or colours are visibly off, it could be the displays are using different colour profiles.

Conclusion

The Kwumsy Z4Pro works as advertised. There are pros and cons, just like all monitors.

The main selling point here is portability and having three displays to boost productivity. For a triple display setup, this is quite portable.

The main downside would be colour support which is just 80% sRGB but still not a deal breaker. And there's the strange glitch with Windows where one display is dimmer when configured with three desktops.

I wished the company had used 16:10 instead of 16:9 displays instead, which makes portrait mode for each display more usable.

Pricing of USD 499 seems reasonable considering there are three displays. This is a niche product and is the type of product that you'll know instantly whether you need it or not at first glance.
