This is a review copy sent to me either by Race Point Publishing or Quarry Books from the Quarto Publishing Group. I'm not sure because the shipping notice attached wasn't particularly clear. Anyway, it must be one of them.
Color Me Calm is in essence a colouring book, and from what I've read inside, designed for adults. Art therapist Lucy Mucklow and artist Angela Porter have designed the book to get you colouring to reduce your stress and help you relax. Creating art does that, it engages the creative side of your mind, makes you lose awareness of the time, and thereby making you forget about what's happening around.
The book's split into six chapters covering mandalas, water scenes, wooded scenes, geometric patterns, floral & fauna and natural patterns. The artworks to be coloured on are all line drawings. They are actually quite detailed and would take a good amount of time to complete for each one. And there are 100 of them.
One downside is the book doesn't lay completely flat so colouring near the spine is more difficult. Another thing I noticed is there are a few (3) pixelated drawings in the chapter for water scenes.
It's an activity book to check out if you need some helpful distraction for your mind.
