Miguel Herranz is an accomplished illustrator based in Spain and in this book he shows off Barcelona with his beautiful sketches. At 96 pages, this is the thickest book of the three I've received and I really enjoyed the extra pages because there are more sketches.
Miguel Herranz went up tall buildings in Barcelona to create the sketches in this book. As visitors or tourists, we usually see the city from ground level, so it's refreshing to look at city from the top. There's just so much we don't see when we're on the ground.
The detailed sketches were drawn with coloured inks and watercolour. I can imagine each piece taking a few hours to complete. The details, composition, light and shadows are all beautifully captured. I had to really slow down to admire all the intricacy in the sketches. This is definitely a book I will come back often to look at for inspiration.
Highly recommended to anyone who loves sketchbooks or sketching.
