Review: Alldocube iPlay 80 mini Turbo 8.8-inch Android 16 tablet

The Alldocube iPlay 80 mini Turbo is a 8.8-inch Android 16 tablet released in June 2026. Price at the time of review is USD 220 on AliExpress. There's a more powerful model called the iPlay 80 mini Ultra that cost USD 340.

I still remember reviewing the Alldocube iPlay 50 Mini in 2023 and was shocked at the USD 100 price point. While the prices of these new tablets have increased noticeably, they are still considered budget tablets and now the specifications are even better. FYI, Apple iPad Mini 7 (2024) is USD 599.

Performance

The tablet comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 7400, 8GB RAMand 128GB storage. Overall performance is smooth and responsive with normal usage.

Design

Design is clean and simple. Bezels are thinner on the long side, thicker on the short site. Dimensions are 208.2 × 129.2 × 6.95 mm, weight is 295g.

The portrait camera is just 5MP but thankfully there's face unlock. There's no fingerprint unlock.

A mini tablet is so convenient and easy to pick up, and it's great for media consumption. This is for people who feel their phones are too small but don't want an overly large tablet.

This is a tablet that can be held comfortable in hand for long periods of time.

The USB-C 2.0 port can charge up to 20W. Battery capacity is 6500 mAh. Battery life is around 7 to 9 hours of normal use and auto brightness.

The SIM tray can hold a 4G nano SIM and micro SD card. You can use this tablet as a phone if you want to although the mic quality isn't that good, but use Bluetooth headphones and you're good to go. You can also install Whatsapp. There's no NFC so no wireless payment.

The tablet has actually has haptics but it's weak.

Images, videos are bigger and more satisfying to look at. When reading, you also get to see more text or more of the webpage. Comic pages can still look small though, but if you're reading with Amazon Kindle app you can choose to zoom in to individual panels. The tablet is definitely not big enough for reading PDFs or e-magazines.

The display is 8.8-inch IPS LCD with 120Hz refresh rate. Visuals are sharp with no pixelation and colours look good, vibrant out of the box. Brightness is up to 400 nits, sufficiently bright for indoor use but will struggle outdoors together with the already applied glossy screen protector.

One downside with the display is there already seems to be slight yellowing at the edges even though it's a new tablet. I've seem other mini Alldocube tablet with this issue so you can tell the display quality is not top notch, but that's not surprising considering it's a budget tablet. There has to be a compromise somewhere with such a low price. I rarely notice that after I enable dark mode. I just wonder how the LCD will look with years of usage.

Gaming experience is of course more immersive. Default graphics settings with Genshin Impact is lowest, 30FPS. Graphics look alright to me but I'm not really particular about gaming. Gameplay is smooth.

There's stereo speakers and they are loud. Audio quality is alright but can sound slightly hollow, but overall much better than extreme budget tablets, so the speakers are quite usable here.

Build quality is good. The back is metal, matte textured. The back has a 13MP camera and a flash that looks like a camera lens.

The tablet would rest on the camera and flash when on the table so there's no wobble. This would cause the contact point of the camera and flash to wear off with time.

I don't think it's necessary to buy a case for this tablet since it's not an expensive tablet, and a case will make the tablet heavier. I would get a sleeve for the tablet though so that I can throw this into my back.

The tablet runs on Android 16 which is quite recent as and the current version is 17. There's official support for Google Play Store. Yeah. I'm surprised there's no bloatware or adware.

Alldocube's OS is pretty much stock Android and there aren't many features. If you need more features you'll have to find an app for it. At least there's raise to wake, double tap to wake and sleep.

The tablet does not have split screen mode (doesn't need that) and no video output.

Conclusion

For USD 220, this tablet provides a lot of value for money. If you need better sound and even better visual quality, you can go with the Alldocube iPlay 80 mini Ultra but that's an extra USD 120 more.

If you just want an affordable mini tablet that you can enjoy and bring around, and not have to worry about pampering it, the Alldocube iPlay 80 mini Turbo is a good option to consider. The pricing is attractive, tempting.
