Book Review: Tekkon Kinkreet Art Book: Background Sketches

Tekkon Kinkreet Art Book: Background Sketches - 02

鉄コン筋クリート ART BOOK クロside 基礎工事編 (Tekkon Kinkreet Art Book: Background Sketches)

There are two art books for Tekkon Kinkreet, the anime movie. This is one with the black cover, Tekkon Kinkreet Art Book: Background Sketches, or in Japanese 鉄コン筋クリート ART BOOK クロside 基礎工事編. The white cover edition is Tekkon Kinkreet Art Book: Background Paintings.

This art book features some of the most detailed architectural pencil sketches I've ever see. The sketches are grouped according to the areas where the stories take place. These are places like playgrounds, alleys, temples, rivers and the cityscape shown in the anime movie. There are no character designs in the book.

Actually in addition to sketches, this art book also features a few fully coloured illustrations as well. Some of these illustrations are the pencil sketches with colour painted over it. So there's the pencil sketch and colour rendering for comparison. Both look stunning with the immense amount of detail worked into them.

For extremely complicated drawings, there are close ups to look at the intricate line work.

This book is slightly cheaper than the one for background paintings because it's thinner. But still it's a magnificent work of accomplishment.

It's highly recommended to get this together with the other one on background paintings, Tekkon Kinkreet Art Book: Background Paintings.

How much of a difference is there in the "Paintings" book and this one?

In reply to by Anne Nonamous (not verified)

Most of the coloured illustrations from this book are not found on the other book. There are very few overlaps.

As for the pencil sketches, some of them are used in the other book. When comparing two similar scenes, one pencil and one colour, they can look and feel totally different because of the pencil texture and hatching are totally painted over.

In effect, it really feels like two different books altogether.

Hello! Excuse me, I wonder how long will it take to arrive China~
And how much in Chinese currency?
Thank you~

By the way, are there similar artbooks with SKETCHES, especial about cityscape, architecture~

Oh, sorry, can you give me one English version of purchase process?

And I still want to know:
Is the book the original version?
I mean, it won't the private version or copy version?

You know, in China, private-retailers are ... so abundant ...

Thank you for your answer~

I found the English Version of the website:)
And is the book the original version?
Not private or copy version?

Thank you~

Oh, sorry for bothering again~
I found some people said in the internet that a personal in China cannot buy things directly from Japan Amazon, except through purchase agency...
Is that right? Or have you sent your goods to Chinese consumers before?

@Shuo
I don't know about those purchase agency. Amazon Japan will be sending through DHL. If there's DHL in your country, then it will be passed to your local DHL for delivery.

I have ordered and got these two books from Amazon~
This is the first over-sea purchase of mine, and I believe it will be the most valuable one too.

Thank you and keep this site updating~ Ha

For anyone still looking for these, the book store in Toronto called "Labyrinth" still has stock. Highly recommend picking one up especially since they're so hard to find.
