Whether there is shellac or not, India ink should be used with dip pens and not inside fountain pens.

India ink is pretty permanent (difficult to remove) and shellac makes it almost impossible to remove. Do get a bottle of fountain pen ink cleaning liquid for cleaning pen nibs.
