Your post is from several years ago, but will always be relevant! I have a terrible time with writing in sketch books because, like you, I don't want to 'ruin' the sketch I have taken hours on with messy text! I have often had to collage a new text over the mistakes I've made and that doesn't work so well. Have you ever used letterpress stamps? That's another way--but requires skill and patience. I've tried that too.without much success!
