Review: Bigme F7 e-ink photo frame

Bigme F7 is a 7.3-inch colour e-ink photo frame. Retail price is USD 99, and it's currently USD 79 at the time of review.

Inside the box, you'll find the photo frame, a stand and the user manual.

Setting up the photo frame requires you to install an app by scanning the QR code on the back, then have the photo frame join your 2.4Ghz wifi. This photo frame can only work with 2.4Ghz wifi. The app is available for Apple and Android devices.

The connection setup is not difficult but it took me a few tries to finally get it to work. The photo frame has a 1300 mah battery, and battery life is advertised to be one year.

To transfer a photo over, you have to power on the photo frame, upload a photo from your phone to the photo frame.

Quality of the photo frame is quite good. The wood is real. The anti-glare is quite effective. One limitation is the resolution is just 800 x 480 pixels. It's still not too bad because chances are you're probably not going to look that close up.

Another limitation is colour e-ink displays cannot produce as many colours as LCD so not all colours will look good. Photos that look best are those with vibrant colours.

The photo frame can be deployed vertically or horizontally, either by hanging or on the table with the included metal stand.

This is a straightforward and simple product. It works as advertised. The pricing seems reasonable but I've no other products to compare to so I'm not sure how price competitive this is.
