I was deceived by the cover art thinking that this is the art book for the video game NIER (Amazon: US | CA | UK | DE | FR | JP). It has good reviews on Amazon Japan, which is another reason why I bought it.
This book is essentially a game guide. And as a game guide, it's great. It's completed with character profiles, story guide, game strategies, maps, side quests, enemy charts, backgrounds on weapons and a novelisation (I think) of the game. The information is extensive and organised nicely.
There are only a few pages devoted to character designs, only for the main characters and there aren't a lot of them in this game. The concept art is good but too little. There aren't any environment art either. The rest of the images are screenshots from the game.
You'll only get the most out of this book if you know Japanese.

If you buy from any links on the blog, I get a little commission that helps me get more art books to feature.
