Review: Kuxiu X38 Pro Max iPad ergonomic arm

Review sample provided by Kuxiu

The Kuxiu X38 Pro Max is an iPad Pro ergonomic arm that supports wireless charging. Price of this tablet arm stand is US $105. This is an updated model of the Kuxiu X36 arm launched two years ago.

This new model has been updated to support iPad Pros and iPad Airs released from 2018 to 2025. There's now 18W wireless charging and the magnetic plate can be replaced to work with other tablets that you may switch to in the future.

Things included are

  • Stand
  • Mounting magnetic plate
  • A long USB-C to USB-C charging cable
  • User guide
  • Card that says this product will not work with iPadOS Beta
  • Transparent clips for cable management
  • Double side tape for the transparent clips

Build quality of this tablet arm stand is solid since almost all parts are made with metal.

The maximum width for the clamp is 5cm (~2 inches). This means your table needs to be thinner than 5cm, and you'll need space behind and under your table for the clamp.

There is rubber padding on each side of the clamp to protect your table.

Once clamped, the stand is extremely stable.

The arm can bend at three joints, and the hinge is stiff.

The first arm section can rotate 360 degrees around the base. The first joint does not allow the arm to bend low. The first arm segment is mostly vertical with limited angle adjustment.

The stand is hollow so you can actually run cables through the hollow parts.

The mounting plate is separate from the arm and has to be fixed onto the arm's ball joint. This detachable design allows you to replace the mounting plate to use with other iPad Pro or iPad air models in the future.

Main selling point of this tablet stand is it does not take up table space. The iPad Pro would just float above the table and you can adjust the height and where the tablet faces. The tablet won't wobble much when you tap on the display.

Since the mounting plate is magnetic, you can remove the iPad Pro easily to bring the tablet elsewhere. The mounting plate has adjustment for orientation and can tilt in many angles.

I've tested several iPad stand with magnetic charging and sometimes the virtual keyboard does not show when you tap inside a text box. If that happens, you'll have to set the virtual keyboard to appear manually, and you can do that from the Settings - Accessibility - Touch - AssistiveTouch page.

To conclude, this tablet arm stand is well made and works well. It's a good stand if you need the flexibility of the movable arm. Wireless charging is certainly quite convenient and leaves the USB-C port free for other connections.
