Book Review: J.A.W. Cooper Genesis Collection
Exquisite sketchbook
J.A.W. Cooper is an artist born in England and currently based in Portland, OR, USA. She was raised by two freshwater ecologists which explains why she's into the natural world. She is an illustrator and has worked as an art director.
I saw several of her sketchbooks at Basheer Graphics Books here in Singapore. This book I'm featuring is the thickest of them all, and I will try to feature her other sketchbooks too when I have the opportunity.
According to the book description, this book collects the drawings and paintings from the sold-out releases of Familiars, Flora and Fauna, and Viscera, which could be the other sketchbooks I refer too.
This book is filled with beautiful sketches of animals, character designs, and there's some nudity. I'm not sure if she studies fine art but her line art looks really refined. The style of the line and some of the imagery reminds me of James Jean.
You can see more of her work on Instagram.
