This is the Japanese art book for The Cat Returns. I don't think Viz Media will be translating this into English since the movie wasn't really a major hit.
The illustrations are arranged chronologically to the movie's plot. Most of them are background paintings and concept art for the suburb town. There are also a few film stills and character sketches. Right at the back are a few pages of storyboards, some created with water colour. The captions are all in Japanese, which I can't read.
The background paintings are beautiful and calming but the designs for the town and buildings are not as extravagant as those from Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. The set in The Cat Returns isn't just as magical.
It's recommended more for the must-own-it-all Studio Ghibli fans.
