Youtube channel reaches 2000 subscribers!

Woo hoo! My Youtube channel has reached 2000 subscribers!

I've created the channel to have a different focus compared to my blog. It focuses on sketching and all things related. There are sketching tips, sketchbook features and art product reviews.

So if you like sketching, drawing on location, be sure to subscribe. I aim to publish content regularly. So far response from viewers has been very positive and that's very encouraging for me. :-)

My Computer is Down

I've just sent in my Mac Pro (2006) for repairing today. I suspect it's the power supply that's faulty since I can't start up at all. Hopefully so as that is cheaper than the logic board that was replaced two years ago. I should probably upgrade or downgrade to the Mac Mini next.

Since I don't have any content from the backlog, there won't be as much reviews for the next few days.

Server swap is complete

Parkablogs.com is on a new server now. Hopefully, there won't be any more of those silly too-busy-can't-load-page type of problems anymore.

Previously, I was on Bluehost's webhosting which was really economical at only $6.95 per month. That lasted me from Feb 2009 to Oct 2012.

Bluehost has a database connection limit of only 15, which means if you have around 30 visitors online at the same time, there's a good chance pages won't load due to the web traffic. That is about 12000 pageviews per day, a gauge to consider if you want to sign up for Bluehost.

If you want to blog simply without features like forums or special programming code, I would highly recommend Google Blogger instead, and purchase a domain name from them.

Now, I've switched over to Vodien, a Singapore webhosting company. I'm on their VPS so this should suffice for the long term.

On Parka Blogs, I make a very conscious effort not to violate the Copyright of publishers and authors because I respect their work and effort.

As such, all reviews posted are in line with the Copyright Fair Use doctrine.

Here are details about the book reviews:

  • All pictures and videos created are for review purposes only.
  • Around 10-20% of the pages are featured.
  • Videos usually run for 1 minute and 30 seconds, and the pages are flipped, usually the book is not laid flat.
  • I do not respond to requests for book scans.
  • I respond quickly to authors who don't want pictures/videos of their book appearing on the blog.

Did your firewall or antivirus software throw a warning while visiting the blog?

I've received two emails recently from readers saying there's a trojan or virus on Parka Blogs.

Did anyone else have their security software throwing up warnings while visiting the blog? If you do, please let me know the URL that triggered the warning, the name of the trojan/virus that appears in the warning, and the software you're using.

I've tried scanning the blog but nothing turned up with AVG Online Web Page Scanner, Google Safe Browsing diagnostics and Norton Safe Web.
