They Drew As They Please is a series of books that looks at Disney's archives and features selected artists that has worked at Disney. Each volume features different artists. In this first volume, the artists featured are Albert Hurter, Ferdinand Horvath, Gustaf Tenggren and Bianca Majolie. It's great that artists other than the the nine old men are being featured.
This 208-page hardcover collects the sketches and art of the four artists, and also stories about their contribution to the studio. There is writeup on their personalities, style and the projects they work on. It's pretty cool to look back at the old sketches to see how these are drawings are part of history of the animation industry.
This is a book for those interested in the early artists who worked at Disney.
