Parka, you may try out the Paperlike protection skin for the display of your iPad. It is sold from a german company in Hamburg and shipped worldwide without shipping costs. I use it myself, it is matte and gives you the feeling of wwiting on paper with your pen.
For holding the iPad mini you might consider Tech21 Evo Play2 Case for iPad mini - made for kids, but works for adults as well. It gives you a ring on the back of the iPad to grab to. Depends on size of your hand how much you will be able to enjoy it, of course.
