If it's primarily for reading PDFs, 4:3 aspect ratio is better.
Wider tablets will have bigger black bars at the top or sides when viewing PDFs which are usually 4:3, 3:2 or print magazine aspect ratio.
Since iPad aspect ratio is 4:3, they are great for reading PDFs. But main selling point of iPads to me is the huge variety of drawing and graphic design apps.
For Tab S7+, the best app is Clip Studio Paint for drawing, which unfortunately is subscription based. BUT if you draw frequently, it's really worth the money.
Other good apps on Android are Autodesk Sketchbook, ArtFlow, Infinite Painter, Medibang Paint Pro. Some free, some one-time purchase. But not are as good in terms of how much features are available compared to CSP.
