Book Review: Out & About in Singapore
Out & About in Singapore is a pictorial book on the culture and places in Singapore written for children ages 7 to 12. The author is Melaine Lee and artist is William Sim.
The book's a 64-page hardcover published by Marshall Cavendish.
The book's packed with beautiful and detailed illustrations drawn with coloured pencils. William is actually a friend of mine from the Urban Sketchers Singapore and I've only seen his watercolour art but never coloured pencil pieces. So I'm actually quite surprised to see him use dry media. The meticulous style easily recognisable.
Since this book is targeted children, the writing is accessible and brief. The book serves as an introduction to various places and the different cultures found in Singapore.
