Your comment reminds me of an aspect of backup that I forgot to mention, and I should update my article.
The cloud storage services I mentioned are selected with the main concern being uptime and availability. I only use these cloud services for files that I need to access regularly. The 10TB+ files that I don't need to use are stored on physical drives.
Physical storage is good for long time storage. And ideally there should be two backups in case the original backup fails. Spinning hard drives can fail due to accidental drops, or placed near magnets (nowadays there are so many magnetic accessories), water spilled from cup, drive thrown out the window by my kids.
Cloud storage is indeed limited and is expensive for large capacity. I use cloud storage to access files quickly in the event that something happens. Another feature I use it for the files to sync to the many computers I use. This feature is not possible with physical drives.
I'm not too bothered by broadband downtime. I consider the risk of computer and broadband going down together to be very low.
