Book Review: Sketch.Box: Abigail Larson

This is the first volume of the new Sketch.Box collection, a project from Editions Caurette and Spiridon Giannakis. Each book will feature one artist and this first book features Abigail Larson who is known for her fantasy and gothic inspired images.

This book is a 160-page paperback that's almost A5 size. The paper is bright white, non glossy. Binding seems durable.

The book is packed with sketches of dark fantasy and character designs. I love how dynamic the characters look. My first impression of this book was the style looks very much like Disney except Disney isn't really into dark fantasy. These sketches are part of the brainstorming process before the illustrations. The sketches are very beautiful and many actually have to potential to be full coloured illustrations.

If you love character design, storytelling, animation and sketchbooks, this is the book for you.

This book is priced at €19.90 and is available from Editions Caurette online store.
