Book Review: Overflow: The Art of Bryce Kho
Treat art like a game – do it for the experience
That's one of the many advice and insights from Bryce Kho that you'll find in his first personal artbook, published by 3dtotal Publishing. This artbook is a large hardcover with 216 pages.
Bryce Kho is freelance illustrator and concept artist known for his fun character designs and detailed illustrations. Many would probably know him as the lead artist for the Sea of Stars RPG released in 2023 by Sabotage Studios.
This artbook is a deep dive into the career of Bryce Kho from when he got influenced by pop culture such as Sonic and Ninja Turtles to learning art and making it a career.
There's a lot to read so if you want to find out about Bryce's artistic journey, this is the book to get. It's is inspiring not just to read about his story but also to see the huge amount of artworks he has created over the years, and how he has evolved.
The artworks in this book are beautiful. There's a good mix of traditional and digital art. Most are personal artworks and you can also see the concepts and projects he has created for himself.
The back of the book has several pages talking about his creation process.
This is an awesome book. And do check out the Sea of Stars artbook too.
