I received this book from Fernando Palma of Future Stable Studios for this review. This is Palma's first self published tutorial book.
The book's on drawing Megacykes, those futuristic huge bikes you see in sci-fi comics or anime.
The design section is not that much actually. It basically tells you to come up with creative shapes so that you can use them for your design. There are examples of such shapes provided as used in the design for the megacykes in the tutorials. The other design section is on the tyres. There's not so much on how you can actually "build" your megacykes but there are plenty of example sketches provided.
The step by step tutorials are on using Photoshop to create the line art and then colouring them. They start with the scan, moving to creating the lines and then to colouring. It's basically a look at the process of creating the subjects digitally. Should you want to follow along, you've to either scan the designs in the book or come up with your own design. The instructions are pretty easy to follow along but there are occasional typos and grammar errors.
Two tutorials on on creating the Megacykes using Photoshop, one is with markers and the last tutorial is on using Photoshop to adjust the colours of the marker created piece.
There are a couple of 3D rendered examples. Those are more dynamic looking but I'm too sure about their colour schemes. They are quite a contrast the to 2D tutorials.
This book is for those who want to achieve the rendered look for your drawings, which can be used for other vehicles as well.
