A Watercolour A Day by Oscar Asensio is a collection of watercolour tips and techniques to inspire creativity and help you improve with the medium.

The tips can be split into the hands-on tips and the factual tips. First half of the book focuses on the factual tips and talks about the basic characteristics of watercolour, the supplies and symbolism of colours. Second half of the book has tips that invite you to practice after reading. There's also a section on gouache, and tips for selected subject matter.

One thing I like about this book is there are lots of ideas and techniques to check out. You can go through a tip a day and practice that certain technique taught. At the end of the book, you can revisit the start again to practice again. The thing I don't like is not all the tips are hands-on. Many of the tips that appear early in the book are those where you read once and there's no reason to read them again. For example, one "tip" talks about paper being an important product. Another "tip" is on using both sides of the paper. The hands-on tips are better because you can always revisit them to use them.

Overall, it's a nice book to complement other structured watercolour instructional books that you may have. It would have been a better book if all the tips are hands-on tips.
