Forced Perspective Dioramas is the second book on diorama by Ivar Kangur. His first diorama book was published in 2014 and is called Diorama Design: Design secrets that will give your diorama an edge.

The focus of this book is on creating the illusion of depth and perspective in miniature. It features ideas and techniques on how you can create the illusion for dioramas to look realistic with the scale of models as a constraint.

This book is interesting. In some ways it's actually talking about optical illusion which is always interesting. Reading about the techniques and tricks featured made me go "so that's how they did it" a few times.

This book is not about creating actual miniatures but on creating the scene for those miniatures and models. It deals with placement of the models, lighting, composition and of course perspective. The case studies included looks at different dioramas and how the models and sets are set up for the camera.

If you make dioramas, this book can certainly give you some ideas to think about.

The book's a 74-page paperback. It's not that thick. Price at the time of this review is US $14.99 on Amazon USA.
