There's quite a large section on colouring, like using different colour schemes to make your characters look good.

The content focuses on character design but there are some pages talking about creating background art and special effects, such as animating flames, fire, lasers.

This is a fun book that opens up many possibilities. Highly recommended to those who want to learn pixel art.
