XPPen just released the Artist 24 FHD pen display

XPPen has just released the XPPen Artist 24 FHD pen display and is now available for order. The price is US $569.

According to the Youtube video (below) released, there's another model with 2.5K resolution, 2560 x 1440 pixels.

There's no product page and no price listed for the 2.5K model yet.

I will be reviewing one of these pen displays soon so do check back here or subscribe to my Youtube channel so that you don't miss the review.

98% AdobeRGB colour support is good so this can be considered a colour accurate display. The display is not a touchscreen.

The main thing that stands out for me is brightness is just 250 nits. Based on my experience, real world brightness is usually 20% less so actually brightness is likely closer to 200 nits, or less. I personally use my displays at 150 nits so that's not a big issue for me.

Things included

  • Pen display
  • Detachable stand
  • P05R pen and pen case
  • 8x replacement nibs
  • Artist glove
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Power cable
  • Power adapter
  • USB-C to USB-A cable (for data)
  • USB-C to USB-C video cable
  • Full-sized HDMI to full-sized HDMI cable

The pen display supports USB-C video connection so it is possible for your computer to provide video, power and data with one single USB-C cable.

A 24-inch display requires more than just USB-C power so you will have to provide additional power. In all product photos and videos, there are two cables connected to the pen display. Power cable and power adapter are included in the box.

If you use USB-C video connection, there will be the USB-C and power cables.

If you use HDMI video connection, there will be the HDMI, USB cable (USB-A to C or USB-C to C) and power cables.

The XPPen P05R included with its pen case. It supports tilt and pressure sensitivity. The pen is not powered by battery so no charging is required.

This is the same pen used by the XPPen Artist 15.6 Pro pen display from 2019.

The display is laminated and has a matte textured screen protector on it.

The included stand can be deployed at various angles. The stand can be operated with one hand.

The stand can be detached for VESA mounting (10 x 10cm).

Compared with other models

Since the XPPen Artist 24 FHD only has 1080P resolution, it's more appropriate to compare it with other pen displays of similar resolution.

If you're considering the US $569 XPPen Artist 24 FHD, I would recommend you stretch your budget to $629 and get the XPPen Artist 24 Pro instead which has 1440P resolution and 20 hotkeys with 2 dials. The price difference of just $60 is worth it for the significant increase in resolution.

Should you still buy the XPPen Artist 24 Pro from 2020? That's still a pretty nice pen display with good drawing performance but do note the issues I've mentioned in my review with certain drawing apps.

The unlisted XPPen Artist 24 (2.5K) is likely the replacement for XPPen Artist 24 Pro.
