I see that Tommy Kane has retained his sense of humour in his second sketchbook. In his first book, An Excuse to Draw, he had Michelangelo write the introduction. In this book's preface, he compares himself to Ansel Adams, the famous photographer, and even talked about how he stayed in the same hotel as Jimmy Carter in South Korea, but they never met. Yeah, this is a light hearted and amusing book.

This sketchbook has journal style entries, portraits, collages and sketches, lots of sketches. Tommy Kane is another one of those exceptionally prolific artist and sketcher. And when you look at his art, you can tell he spends a lot of time and effort creating them. He likes to use a variety of media like pens, ink, watercolour and coloured pencils. So you get to see how all these media work together.

As for subject matter, let's just say that this guy draws everything. He draws his photographer friends, models, animals, landscapes, cityscapes, things that he sees and things that he imagines. There's also a lot of details in his sketches to make you pause and really look and study the piece.

Most of the text are inside the sketches so you can read about his observations and travel experiences.

This is an excellent artbook. Be sure to grab the first book as well since it's still available (at the time of this review). The only other thing I want to say is... more please.
