This book by Judy Martin is an accessible and hands-on guide to various coloured pencil techniques.
Each technique is presented in an easy to follow manner with clear and concise instructions. The beautiful illustrated examples are contributed by other artists.
What makes this book interesting is there are many techniques to explore and try. You can use coloured pencils for drawing, shading, creating collage, use with other media, on various types of paper or to do colour studies.
The second half of this 176-page paperback features themes and subjects. There are some step-by-step tutorials that you can follow along to try out the techniques that are used in the beautiful examples provided.
The teaching style of this book is not structured so it probably works better as a complementary book rather than a first book to learning to use coloured pencil. And as a complementary book, it's really insightful and helpful. So it's really worth the money.
