The Iron Man Manual is quite an interesting way to present a book.
It's made to look like JARVIS, Tony Stark's AI assistant, had compiled all the Iron Manual related items for Pepper Potts to keep her up to date with what has happened so far. The book covers the 3 movies plus the Avengers one.
In addition to the JARVIS point of view narrative, the book is also sort of like a scrapbook, with other documents attached (pasted) on the pages, such as name cards, letters, hand written notes, drawings, some schematics, and other stuff. I must say JARVIS is quite good at sourcing the items, including Agent Coulsen's ID card which has LEVEL 7 clearance.
The contents are:
- Understanding Tony Stark
- Stark Industries: A History of Innovation
- The Forging of Iron Man
- The Mansion and the Workshop
- Weaponization: The Iron Man Armors
- Global Threats
- Mr Stark's Allies
You can pretty much get the idea of what's included from the list of contents. The book's filled with nice photos and lots of accompanying descriptions. There's info on all the Iron Man armors, Arc reactor, major and miscellaneous characters, and other interesting bits of details.
The highlight would be, to me, all the armor designs for the Iron Legion. They are all named and come with a short profile. I wished they could be printed bigger though, as they are 4 to a page. Selected ones are shown the front and back, sometimes with the sides.
The book also includes a bit of information regarding the regarding characters that appeared in the Avengers movie, such as Loki and The Black Widow. But strangely, there aren't anything written about Thor who actually fought with Iron Man, and the other characters.
About the pasted items in the book, some of the pasted items are quite close to the page gutter. I would be careful when closing the book so as not to fold them accidentally, causing a crease.
Overall, it's a great book for all Iron Man fans, especially the fans of the movies since this is based on them.
