What are your favourite video games for 2011?

Of the 2011 game titles, I only remember playing Portal 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Killzone 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Among those that I played, I think Portal 2 should be in the top 10. I'm not a big fan of shooter games, they all feel very similar to me because of the gameplay. Portal 2 is something more refreshing and humorous.

Other games from 2011 that I'm looking forward to getting would be Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception abd Dark Souls.

So what are your favourite video games of 2011?

Deus Ex 3, Witcher 2,

Deus Ex 3, Witcher 2, Killzone 3, Ressistance 3, Uncharted 3, BF3, MW3, Arkham City, Skyrim, Assassins Creed 3, Bulletstorm, Rage, Space Marine, Crysis 2, Dissidia 012, The 3rd birthday, Patapon 3, Red Faction: Armageddon, Alice: Madness returns, Bastion, Limbo,
Gears of war 3... These are by far the games I've enjoyed the most playing this year.

i think i put most of my

i think i put most of my gaming time this year into minecraft.

while there were a lot of highlights (most of which i skipped because my computer is aging, or im not a fan of the direction a franchise is going [street fighter], and im supposed to work on my thesis anyway) this year, like skyrim, portal, rage, deus ex, uncharted... and the usual bestselling lowlights like call of duty, i always felt like rather spending another lazy hour mining blocks, or building something, or just experimenting a bit.

most of the interesting games this year, ill play eventually. but im not in any particular hurry. im more hyped for being able to finally play peace walker than most AAA things, to be honest.

if im allowed a little rant at this point: im all tired of the whining that games suck because the graphics are bad. or consoles holding back video games because the hardware is so old. that it is high time for a new console generation because the current ones dont cut it anymore. thats all utter and braindead bullshit.
right now, we practically dont have games that use up the available technical ressources in a worthwhile manner. the few games that did something worthwhile, visually, like el shaddai, dont seem to be in need for more ressources.
games that are nothing more than the same-old, same-old (or, in the case of modern first person shooters, less than what we once had), and developers that are content to throw AAA projects with 000 brains onto the market just dont have the right to want more ressources just to drag their turd in more shiny.

we need better games, not better tech specs.

My games of 2011 are in large

My games of 2011 are in large part influenced by the artistic design:

Deus Ex
Portal 2
Uncharted 3
The Witcher 2
Assassins Creed: Revelations

My number 1 game in terms of conceptual design AND gameplay:
Deus Ex

Battlefield 3 is an excellent game though of course nothing special in terms of concept design.

Portal 2 is my vote for game

Portal 2 is my vote for game of the year. The co-op was awesome.

Others are: Gears of War 3 (easily the best of the bunch), Deus Ex, Batman: Arkham City, and Rayman Origins (very unique artistic style). I'd also recommend Child of Eden for it's amazing graphics, if nothing else.

Dark Souls easily. It has the

Dark Souls easily. It has the challenge and customization I demand in an action game/RPG. Some of the best level design and fantasy art direction in the last 10 years.

Honorable mentions go to King of Fighters 13, Battlefield 3, Deus Ex 3, and Disgaea 4

2011 Favorites: Dead Space 2

2011 Favorites:
Dead Space 2 (Best horror & art direction for mood)
Portal 2 (Not as challenging as the first but very funny)
Uncharted 3 (Great all around, except for shooting mechanics)
Batman: Arkham City (Best super hero game, except hard to find doors)
Battlefield 3 (Best shooter)
NHL 12 (I'm Canadian)
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD (Oldie but a goodie)
L.A. Noir (Something different, well executed and incredible facial mo-cap))
Dance Central 2 (Best thing on the Kinect)

2011 To Play:
Dark Souls
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Rayman: Origins
Star Wars: The Old Republic
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
To The Moon

Skyrim. I've played it more

Skyrim. I've played it more than any other game that came out in 2011, I think.
Also DX:HR, for being a really good game both on its own and as a rework of existing cult franchise.
And Bastion, for being a great adventure.

And to raphael, the gentleman who had a rant about technical stuff of current generation (PS3 and XBox-360), in case he goes back to read it: please stop. You clearly have little idea how games are made, and are very far from truth in your assumptions on how existing games use provided resources and whether they have reached the limits of said resources. So go and learn the math and technology behind games, talk to developers and do all other kinds of research instead of talking bullshit about things you seem to have no clue about. Thank you.

One of my absolute favorite

One of my absolute favorite games is Anno serial - video game with city-building and real-time strategy gameplay elements.
I played it since first version was released in 1998 - Anno 1602. This year was released new Anno 2070 and it's pure awesomeness!! :)
Unfortunately my PC is old and can't run it so i have to somehow save money to get new MAC (i'm done with PC!! hehe)
