Book Review: The World of Cyberpunk 2077

The World of Cyberpunk 2077 - 01

This “artbook” released months before the official 10 Dec 2020 release of Cyberpunk 2077 did a good job hyping up the game. At the time of this review, there are more than 1,300 reviews on Amazon.

This 192-page hardcover is actually a book on the lore of Cyberpunk 2077. This book was written with lots of details into the world of Cyberpunk 2077. In case you don’t know, the game features a sci-fi dystopia with advanced technology and cybernetic human advancement. The book covers the histories of the wars, technologies, different areas of the cities and life, the political structure, law and order, and an interview with Cyperpunk icon, ex-mercenary and world class fixer, Rogue (from the game).

There’s plenty of text to read. This book provides another level of immersion for gamers beyond just playing the game.

This is not technically an artbook but it does have a lot of art. The illustrations are very detailed and look terrific. The artworks look very polished, there are no sketches or 3D models. I won’t be surprised if the publisher decides to put out a real concept artbook in the future.

This is a fantastic book for fans of the game. Highly recommended.

I have this and the World of

I have this and the World of the Witcher book, both by Dark Horse and both representing CDPR games. Your comment about you "Not being surprised if the publisher decides to put out a real concept artbook in the future" I doubt will come to pass as there never was a publicly available book for Witcher (unless you count the Gwent card game artbook), Now with CP 2077 getting a card game spin off not sure if they will release an art book for that as that will be physical. But yeah this and the World of the Witcher books (along with the "Art of Magic the Gathering" books) I would actually say bridge the gap between lore and art books, but more the lore myself, not saying thats a bad thing though
