NieR: Automata World Guide Volume 1 is the companion video game artbook. This is actually the English translated edition of the original Japanese edition which was published in 2017.

The presentation style of this book is that of a report or dossier. It's a guide to the world of NieR: Automata but it's not a guidebook. It records findings and observations in documentary style. The text provides additional insight to the characters, creatures, machines and locations. There are also two lengthy stories from 2B's journey.

The artworks featured is a mix of game stills, maps. concept art and illustrations. The visuals are beautiful but they have the typical digital painting or photo-mash look. Some machines have detailed schematics provided.

The presentation style of this book makes it different from other game art books. It's a nice companion for fans of the game.
