Book Review: 承 井上雄彦 pepita2

This is the second book with the Pepita name from Takehiko Inoue. The first one was pepita 井上雄彦 meets ガウディ and there's an English edition.

This second book is a 204 A5-size landscape paperback. Half the book are words and the other half pictures made up of mainly photos. Everything is written in Japanese.

I've checked the dictionary and the word 承 translates to acquiesce; be informed; hear; listen to; receive.

I know no Japanese so looking through this book was confusing to me. I can't understand anything. If I were to make a guess, I would say Takehiko Inoue is visiting some temples and nature looking at the design and architecture.

There are some sketches and illustrations. The amount and the type of art isn't worth buying for because they are mostly rough people and character sketches. The value of the book is in the text and the book's quite well received judging by the positive reviews on Amazon Japan.

There are three parts the the video. One is a 50 minute video that goes behind the scenes and look at concept behind the book, the process of researching and visiting the places mentioned. The second video is on Takehiko Inoue giving his thoughts about the project. The last video looks at Takehiko Inoue drawing one of the illustrations using brush and ink.
