Review samples provided by Pitaka

Pitaka is a company that makes accessories for phones and tablets, mostly iPhones and iPads. I've reviewed several of their products before and they are all well design, albeit pricey.

The US $59 Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 has improved on the previous design (US $39) in two ways.

There's now a magnetic flap that prevents from Apple Pencil from dislodging by accident.

And the cover can now be folded to deploy the iPad Pro vertically in portrait mode in addition to the usual landscape mode.

The MagEZ Folio 2 is available in either black and white, for iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inch.

Both black and white use PU leather exterior and fabric interior. The black fabric interior can show dirt and smudges more clearly and that's not easy to clean.

This folio is a slim case that does not protect the sides of the iPad Pro. If you want more protection, you can consider the Pitaka MagEZ Case 2 (US $79) or wireless charging MagEZ Case Pro (US $89). Just make sure to get the correct model because the M1 and M2 iPad Pro 12.9 are thicker.

The Pitaka case can attach to the folio magnetically. That case can be used with the Pitaka charging stand and Apple Magic Keyboard too.

The MagEZ Folio 2 is actually designed with the Pitaka MagEZ Case in mind. There is extra allowance for the extra thickness of the case. The folio can of course still be used without the case.

There are two ways to fold the cover for landscape deployment. The first way is to fold in a way where the PU leather is outside. The second way is to fold such that fabric surface is outside, and this is way more stable.

This is the first generation MagEZ Folio, which is the usual tri-fold slim case. The folio will still move when you're drawing on it even though it actually looks quite stable.

MagEZ Folio 2 is so stable that you can press down hard and the folio won't move at all. The magnetic flap can be folded behind the folio or behind the iPad Pro, but both ways will cause the folio to wobble.

There's an indent on the inner side of the case for the magnetic flap.

Conclusion

The MagEZ Folio 2 is well made, looks good and works well. It's definitely more versatile compared to tri-fold folio cases since there is vertical deployment for the tablet. The only downside is it is quite pricey at US $59.99.
